Project 365 - Week 17

Project 365 - Week 16

Sunday, April 14th - Daddy's Birthday

Azaleas are finally blooming around here and they are gorgeous.  There are so many colors.  Today is my Dad's birthday.  It is a bitter sweet kind of day.  Miss you Daddy.  Frank took me to dinner at Mikata's in Opelika.  I love this place.  Since it was my birthday they sang the birthday song to me in Japanese and gave me a pineapple boat for dessert.  Yummmmo!

Monday, April 15th - My Birthday

Flowers from Jo and Jim.  Olive Garden from Marian and an Amazon gift card from Carol and Jeff (which I spent almost immediately).   Amanda called and wanted to take me to dinner.  We went to Milano's in the Valley.  It is a wonderful Italian restaurant.  They sang "Happy Birthday" and cheese cake with a candle was shared by the table.  We were too full to eat much more than a couple of bites.

 

Tuesday, April 16th

 The hydrangea in my bouquet is so pretty I thought I would feature it as my picture for the day.

Wednesday, April 17th

A beautiful butterfly I came up on headed to the Fellowship Hall at church.  It was injured so I just grabbed the shot and left it alone.  When I went back an hour later it was gone.

The Gerber Daisies are still gorgeous in my bouquet.  I left it at school so I could enjoy it all day.  Thank you again for the beautiful bouquet of some of my most favorite flowers.

 

Saturday, April 20th-Surprise!

 

 Today was Church Clean-Up day in preparation for Homecoming next Sunday.  After working we came home and chilled until time to go to the Red Barn auction tonight.  Deborah and Danny are going to try to meet us there for the auction and Johnna and Amanda are coming.  I am excited.  Sherry told me at the clean-up that she wanted us to stop by before the auction and see what she had bought this week.  The auction was to start at 5:00 EST and we needed to be at Sherry's at 4 CST so Frank let Amy and Wayne know we would be late to the auction.  On the way to Sherry's I had a wee pity party.  I had not SEEN any of my kids and Kat was supposed to meet us in Auburn today.....and I never heard from her.    Deborah and Danny texted and said they wouldn't be at the auction....so I was really enjoying my pity party.  We got to Sherry's and all the Porch People cars were there...and the pity party kicked in again....they were having a meal and we had not been invited.....As we stopped I saw what looked like gifts.....and I asked Frank, "am I going to cry?"  "Are we not going to the auction?"   We walked up to the porch and the boys were playing basketball under the carport.  I did not even realize that one of those "boys" was my SIL Brian.  It is not easy to get a surprise over on me.....but they did....and I cried.  Gifts, cake, Porch people, lots of love...what more could a person ask for for their birthday!  I love these guys.  Kat and Brian stayed til 7ish and by the time everyone had gone....I was in warm fuzzy world and we did not make it to the auction.  I am truly a blessed woman to have such wonderful friends!  Thank you Sherry for hosting this party, thank you to all the Porch People, thank you Kat and Brian for blowing me off about meeting in Auburn and being in Rock Mills....thank you most of all God for my life!

 

Project 365 - Week 14

I have been taking part in the A-Z April Challenge and it has been an interesting week.  My topic is history and I have been learning a great deal about the Civil War.  My picture taking has somewhat suffered.  Want to see some really good pictures?  Hope over to Mama Fran's blog and check them out.

It was cooler than it was supposed to be and rainy, of course.  I had to get my picture made with Tracey's new car so I grabbed an umbrella and fought the wind, rain, and cold.  I wish I had rethought the dress....and definitely the sandals!  But come on!  It was Easter....and Spring!

A lone and odd little flower just off Hwy 22 around Daviston.  I was not sure what it was but stopped to grab the shot while the sun was actually out.  I wore capri's to school today with sandals.  Big Mistake!

Friday, April 5th

Please say a a prayer for this young lady and her family.  Tatum is a senior at our school.  The team was playing in a tournament in Oxford this weekend.  Her parents were returning home on Friday night and they were struck by a speeding car who ran a stop sign.  Both of her parents were killed.  Alex City is saddened tonight.  Why do people drink and drive?

 

Saturday, April 6th

Yesterday was the Rock Mills Volunteer Fire Departments annual fish fry.  You got two fillets, french fries, hushpuppies, slaw, and the fixings.  We fixed and sold over 1500 plates.  By 6:00 last night I did not want to smell grease, or see anything that was related to fish.  Since this was my first dance I filled in when someone needed a break on the line, socialized a bit, and ran errands when we needed something from the Pig (Piggly Wiggly) or Walmart.  It was fun....but it was definitely work.



Project 365 - Week 12

It is hard to believe that we are 12 weeks into 2013.  Time really seems to fly when you get a little age on you.  I will be celebrating my 59th birthday on April 15th.  That is just one year away from 60.  Wow...when did I get to be my mom's age?  Fran is our hostess on Project 365.  I hope you will hop over and see what everyone has been seeing through the eye of a camera for the past week.  I am running a bit late with my post this week because it is Spring Break and I am being a lazy bum (not really.  I am working on taxes.)  So here is what my week has looked like.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Did you wear something green?  I did.  I did not want to get pinched by the little munchkins at church today.

It does not feel like spring here but at least it is beginning to look a little like Spring.

 

Tuesday, March 19th

Today is my cousin Judy's birthday and would have been my parent's 60th wedding anniversary. 

One of our church members made this picture at Christmas time and I misplaced it.  Found it and thought I would share.  The pretty girl is my sweet Jessica.  We live in their front yard....sort of.  They live behind us and there is a road between the two houses.  I adore this young lady.  She has such a sweet personality.  Thank you Mrs. Sherry for the picture.

Spring Break officially kicks off at 3:14 today. "Let the Good Times Roll.  A duck and a turkey hen from Kimble's yard.  I took them from the car....have you ever been flogged by a duck.  I have and it is not fun.

 

Saturday, March 23rd

My aunt Wanda's mom died yesterday and Amanda and I went to Eufaula today to be with the family.  I could not believe my eyes when we got out of the car at the funeral home and there were azalea's blooming.  The bush was bursting with the pretty pink blooms and I was delighted.  Ours do not even have leaves on them yet.  The first weekend in April is the Pilgrimage of Homes in Eufaula.  If you are ever looking for something fun to do then you must come and do this.  The Shorter mansion is spectacular.  Frank was at school and so tonight Amanda, Johnna, and I went to the auction at Standing Rock.  Frank joined us there about 7ish.  I bought two chairs for the parsonage and a sterling silver bracelet. (My chairs are the two wing back on the far left of the picture).  They are gorgeous and I am happy, happy, happy.
