This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walmart for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
Tom has had to work many a holiday thanks to being in the military. He's even been gone during Christmas. It was tough, yes, but programs like Operation Homefront, partnered by WalMart, makes things easier. Honestly I had never even heard of Operation Homefront before but now I'm really impressed.
In the past I have made fun of WalMart because of the interesting patrons that frequent the store but after reading about Operation Homefront, I'll watch what I say. Why? Because WalMart has donated $2 million to help military families.
There are Holiday Toy Drives, which means that 25,000 toys can be purchased to go to military families in need. There are also Holiday Meals for Military which will allow Operation Homefront to provide 17,000 meals to military families. Even better, WalMart is able to fly 500 soldiers in to be with their families for the holidays. This, I think, is the most important. What I would have GIVEN for Tom to be home for Christmas. I'm glad some families will be able to benefit from this.
Fisher House is also an amazing foundation that helps military families be close to a loved one if they are injuried or sick. The homes are absolutely beautiful.
Today is what is known as #GivingTuesday. Today I hope that you will consider giving to the wonderful programs that I mentioned. You can go to Fisher House or Operation Homefront and donate whatever you can. Think of a military hero you are grateful for and talk about him or her in a Tweet with #GivingTuesday. Join in our Holiday Salute to Military Families.
I am happy to have learned about these programs and hope that my readers will check out the links. If you cannot give, perhaps pass on the links to someone who can. I know many people donate during the holidays and these are fabulous programs.
Happy #GivingTuesday
