Rock Mills Church

Well here is part one of our first Sunday at Rock Mills.  I know it is a little late in coming...but we have been so busy with unpacking that I could not find my reader.  I finally just bought a new one today.  Still have not found the can opener(we bought a hand held one last week)....and a few other little tidbits...but I am sure they will eventually show up.  Our very first Sunday there was a lovely greeting on the sign out front so I made a picture of it for you to see.  Isn't the church cute?  It is so pretty inside too.  The walls are light, the pews are white, there are stained glass windows on all the windows and it is just cute as it can be.  I am delighted to be part of this ministry here.  This past Sunday was, of course. July 4th and one of the ladies (Betty Jean Houze) in the church put together the most stunning flower arrangement for the piano.  I made a picture of it so you could see it in all its splendor and glory. I made sure to get her in the picture so you could see her.  She is such a sweetheart.  She has the spunkiest personality and can dish out to Frank whatever he dishes out to her.  She reminds me of Barbara Jarvis at Waverly and makes me not feel so sad about the move.  I guess I need to get over this because in the Methodist church the preachers are itinerate and moved from time to time.  We have had preachers at First United Methodist for as long as 10 years and as short as half a year.  You just never know.
Can you see that huge red flower mixed in with the blue and white hydrangeas?  Well, let me tell you it is the size of a dinner plate.  It is a red hibiscus and Mrs. Betty Jean grows it out in her yard!  We had hibiscuses when I was a kid in South Florida...but none ever grew to this magnitude.  I can't wait to go to her house and see her whole garden.  She must have the greenest of all thumbs.  It is all I can do to keep a plant from just dying out right.  I actually have 5 right now...that are alive...I won't say they are thriving...but they are alive.
The lady on the left is Beth Kramer.  She is the church pianist.  She is also the secretary for Rock Mills School (K-8).  Her husband Ron just got back from a mission trip in Paducah, Kentucky with Carpenters for Christ.  They both have such sweet smiles...you know the kind that show clear through to the soul.  Beth teaches local kids piano lessons.  Ok....so now you have had a taste of Rock Mills.  I promise I will try and post house pictures sometime this week.  I have some of rooms in progress and finished....and some thinking about it pictures....signing out now...maybe I will find that dag blasted can opener tomorrow.  Happy Wednesday.
