My Thoughts On The Book:  Anyone who reads my blog knows that my favorite genre of literature is historical and Amish fiction.  I was delighted to get my hands on one by an author I have never read.  Reading The Bargain was such a treat because it is both. The book is not your typical Amish tale but it does not disappoint.  This book talks of life for both the Amish and English during 1971, the Vietnam war, and its affects on both cultures. Knowing that the Amish are peaceful I never thought much about an Amish man serving in the military until I read The Bargain.  Stephanie Reed is an amazing wordsmith and knows her material.  Her handling of the Amish, Vietnam War, leather working, and the all the other events that took  place during the 1970's is remarkable. This novel had me from the Introduction and I found myself doing without sleep because I simply could not put it down. From the moment I began the book I found myself a character among the book and totally immersed. The characters seem real because they are not perfect and they lead normal lives.  I cannot wait to read the rest of this series. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys Amish and Historical Christian Fiction, you will not be disappointed. I give this novel 4.5 Stars!

My Thoughts About the Book:  As a big fan of Tricia Goyer I was delighted to get to read and review this book.  The story was everything I would have expected from Goyer and more.  It was a poignant story of an Amish woman and her search for God, her identity, and love. A Christmas Gift for Rose is an amazing story of love, faith and family just in time for the Christmas season. This book will definitely pull at your heartstrings. I know it did mine.  A short and quick read, this is the book you will want to share with all your friends and family.  Warning:  Be sure to have a box of Kleenex near because you will need them before the story is over.

My Thoughts On The Book:  This was one of the best Amish romances I have read in a while.  Once I started reading the book I did not put it down until I was finished.  This book is the third in a series and even though I have not read the other two I was able to pick this one up and be drawn into the lives of the main characters.  The story is one of struggle, decisions, doing our will, secrets, and life.  There were several sub plots working in this story.  The secretiveness of the grandparents past, the hidden addiction of the father, and the illness of one of the twins. Through this family's bond of love, the love of a man and his wife, the love of parent and child all the stories are resolved.  The resolves may not have been what I would have wanted but through Gray's expert character development I was left with a feeling of understanding.  If you love Amish books then this one is definitely one you will not want to miss.

MY THOUGHTS ON THE BOOK:  The first half of the book was captivating.  The setting felt so vivid that I felt as if I was there. Australia, after reading this book, is definitely on my Bucket List.  I greatly enjoyed the first half of the book, as Lily meets Marcus and her sister Camille and begins to establish relationships with the two. But in the second half of the book, when Lily goes home and she and Marcus both confront their pasts, I began to lose interest in the book and it was as if the writer changed entirely.  This was definitely not an "I just can't put it down" books, Winter in Full Bloom did have an intriguing plotline of sorts and some unpredictable twists. The characters at first made you feel as if you were a part of the story.  Each one had a distinct personality  and they appeared 3-D.   The feelings and emotions within the first pages were very realistic. The journeys experienced by each character showed clarity as they achieved understanding, faith, and forgiveness.  The cover was beautiful.  The book as a whole left me feeling as if something was missing.

My Thoughts On The Book:  It is one thing when hope is robbed by our own choices, but it is something else when hope is robbed by someone else’s choices.  Choices made by others can alter another person’s life forever, forgiveness can be hard and it can be even more difficult to forget.  Cynthia Ruchti's Ragged Hope is a godsend is a beacon for those who are trying to be tough in difficult circumstances not of their own making. There are several short stories in the book and each of them is a tale of betrayal, pain and loss.  The uplifting nugget buried there is found in the proof that God offers hope to everyone in all circumstances. He may not answer our prayers the way we pray them,  or remove our troubles entirely, but I promise you He will provide a way to get you through it. He will give you a future in spite of the actions of others.  Ragged Hope shows the reader that life is hard. Recovery is rarely easy and sometimes there is no recovery ever. The tough things that happen in life most often leave us wondering, “What just happened?”   The stories Ruchti shares are those teachable moments we find in hard life events.  Life does hand us bitter lemons to make lemonade with and with His help we can forgive, forget, and move on.  This book is a good read.  I would recommend it to anyone who has ever had to pick up the pieces in their lives as a result of someone else’s actions.

My Thoughts About The Book:  I’ve read Colleen Coble before, so I knew Rosemary Cottage would be nothing short of wonderful and it did not let me down. Rosemary Cottage is the second in a series. Tidewater Inn is the first and you do not need to read the first one to enjoy this one. If you love mystery, suspense, and romance you will love this book! This is story contains a mixture of mystery, suspense, and romance.  Coble’s characters are nicely developed and I found myself caught up in what was happening in their lives almost from the beginning. I love being so caught up in a story that when it ends you are sad to see your new friends leave. The two main characters, Amy and Curtis, are tied together from the beginning when  Amy comes back to the cottage to find answers to her brother’s mysterious death and reunites with Curtis who has secrets he doesn’t want uncovered about his own sister’s death and her daughter, Raine. If you love twists, turns, and surprises you will love this book.  Just when you think you have figured out the “who done it” another lead and more danger will arise.  The key theme I found was that no matter what is in your past, God will forgive you. I hope there is going to be a third book in this series and I can’t wait to read it.  This is definitely a must read.

My Thoughts On The Book:  If you like reading clean historical romance books and enjoy mail-order bride stories then this book is for you.  It is a sweet collection of four novellas by four different authors:  And Then Came Spring by Margaret Brownley, An Ever After Summer by Debra Clopton, Autumn's Angel by Robin Lee Hatcher, and Winter Wedding Bells by Mary Connealy about four women whose lives were irrevocably changed by becoming a mail-order bride – when times were hard out west and women were few.   Each story represents a different season in 1870 I loved them all!  I loved the fact that all four mail-order bride stories are tied together by the common bond of Melvin Hitchcock from The Hitching Post, a mail-order bride catalogue with a high rate of successful marriages.  None of the couples in the four novellas are matched up as they expected to be, when Hitchcock takes it upon himself to play cupid of sorts.  This book is loads of fun and very  entertaining to read. You cannot wait until the next calamity occurs. It is not an epic read but it is good for an afternoon to drift into the life of four mail-order brides.  It is delightful.  There are three discussion questions for each novella in the back. This would be a great Book Club read!

My Thoughts On The Book:  The Promise Box is the second book in Tricia Goyer's Seven Brides for Seven Bachelors series.  The first book, The Memory Jar does not have to be read first in order to keep up with the story line but I plan on reading it because I loved The Promise Box so much  The Promise Box is a story about a former Amish woman returning to the Amish after spending some time in the English world. It was very interesting to see how the community treats Lydia. One of my favorite things about this book and series  I really love the setting,  West Kootenai, Montana.  It sounds like a wonderful place to live and the Amish that live there are not so staunch in their ways.  Tricia Goyer breathes life into her characters wonderfully.  I felt as if during the course of the novel I got to know each of them personally.  Lydia’s story makes this book one that is hard to put down!  Within the confines of the story, Lydia’s discovery of who she really is and her finding out who God made her to be gives the story character. When Lydia begins to come- to terms with the circumstances of her birth and embraces the Amish community my heart was singing.  Once again, the master wordsmith, Tricia Goyer, has done a wonderful job.  I'm a huge fan of Goyer's writing, and I'm happy to say that The Promise Box showcases her talents well.

MY THOUGHTS ON THE BOOK:  I just finished the second book in this series, and enjoyed it. I did not read the first one and enjoyed this one tremendously, but I would recommend reading book one first.  I plan to read it as soon as I can. There are three powerful women characters in this novel.  Both Holly and Esther Fisher are now living in PA, with Mamm, Esther's ailing mother,  Anna. The familial chatter between the three women makes you feel as if they have always been together and you have known them forever. There is a good bit of  romance budding between Esther and Nathaniel, and Holly and Zack, and Armin, and Larry. Nothing is going smoothly for any of the lovebirds and just when you think you have it all figured out,  it changes! I know you will enjoy this book.  It is a fun read.

MY THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK:  If you enjoy faith based fiction as much as I do then this is the book for you.  Becky Wade is a master of creating characters that simply reach out and draw you into their lives. 

Meg Cole, our heroine, wanted to make it on her own without using her family name and money.  When her father dies unexpectedly she takes the helm as an oil company heiress for Cole Oil.  The heroine struggles with living up to her late father's plans but gives it her all inspite of  her growing unhappiness that leads to her old nemesises;  anxiety and panic attacks. With a past that she keeps well hidden from everyone and plans of giving her time and then returning to life as she knew it, this young woman finds herself seeking a stronger relationship with God as she makes decisions that impact many. Family, love, betrayal, danger, and God all help this young woman find herself.  I promise that you will love her.

Bo Porter is a young man who is fighting to keep Meg's father's thoroughbred horse farm open, all the people he has on staff employed, and make a profit in a six month time frame meets the hardnosed(he thinks)  Ms. Cole and discovers that as he fights to save the farm  that their hesitant friendship begins to look more like love.   Bo is fairly self-confident and yet, old fashioned.   As you read you find that God weighs in mightily in Bo's world and it is that power that helps him accomplish his dreams.

Undeniably Yours is a beautifully written romance with a delightful cast of characters. Since this is the first installment on the Porter family chronicles I cannot wait to read the next one.

My Thoughts About The Book:  Between the front and back covers of this novel, The Dog That Talked to God, Jim Kraus, the author writes a delightful tale of a unique friendship between an owner, Mary and her miniature Schnauzer, Rufus. As the ownere of a miniature dachsund, Beau I was hooked from page one.  What I loved most about the story is how during the story Rufus teaches Mary much about God and how He works.  All of the lessons are written in a simplicity that only a dog would understand. As the reader I found myself wonderinf if Rufus was going to be able to help point the way back to God for Mary? This is a must read.  Once you start it you won't want to put it down.  This book is definitely one for pet lovers  who truly understand what it means to talk to your pet!  I would definitely rank  this one a 5 out of 5 stars!

My Thoughts About The Book:  This novel had me right from the beginning...I have always believed that cats could communicate and it was obvious in the meow sounds, looks, and expressions of Petey.  They truly are an independent breed, with a great deal of personality.  I am  a dog person who lives with a family of cat people. I love the fact that this book was written in third person. This story is so much deeper than I thought it was when I first began reading. It is an amazing story, with Petey bringing out truths. As the wife of someone who was called into the ministry later in life I find that when I read books like this one , I am pushed to look at my own thoughts, intentions and precepts of life, and use the stories to grow.  This is one of those stories.  I took away a great deal of thoughts from this book.

My Thoughts About The Book:  I have been a huge fan of Marion Bond West for thirty years.  She is an amazingly honest writer and her books and articles have always touched deep into my heart.  This Spirit Lifter is no different.  Bond does an exceptional job of providing short devotionals that provide scriptures, stories, and a prayer with each entry.  I loved them all!  Somebody Really Special could have been written about my life.  The scripture from Isaiah 60:20 was perfectly chosen for this story. The story of Gene Acuff (pen-al then) and the Milk Duds made me laugh.  The scripture from 2 John 1:12 was one I have now made my own.  It applies to everyone.  I think my favorite was called Life Lessons with text from Matthew 7:11.  It appears that West and I grew up in a similar era.  This one brought memories flooding back to me of a time long ago when I too was a young, impressionable child of six.  This is a must read and a must have!

My Thoughts On The Book:  Obstacles Strengthen Faith is one of my favorite spiritual pieces in the book.  It begins with four books of the Bible that go along with the story of our traveling companion, Moses.    A story of Moses follows and a prayer is at the end of the reading.  Expect the Best was my favorite non-spiritual piece.  The scripture for the reading is from Porverbs 23:18 and says, "Thine expectations shall not be cut off.ollows is about a cross-country plane trip and a seven-year-old.  The prayer that follows this story is about looking for the good in others and how looking for it helps the good to show.  I loved the whole book and was delighted with the intertwining between Bible stories and real-life stories.  This is a must read and a must have!  It would make a wonderful gift.

My Thoughts On The Book:  Although I have not read the first two books in the Kincaid Bride series I was instantly drawn to the characters in Mary Connealy's third book in the series.  Seth Kincaid, one of the stories main characters was quite interesting. This man had survived the Civil War and also survived a fire in a cave. Because he had witnessed many terrible things during the years he was away many  of those things were blocked from his memory...  one of them being his wife, Callie.  Callie, is not your typical wife in the 1800.  As the story begins she is in a stagecoach with a pastor and his wife firing at some men who are trying to overtake the coach.  I loved these two characters.  I now have to go back and read the other two books.  Once I started this book i could not put it down.  It was wonderful.

My Thoughts On The Book:  This book was amazing.  I could not put it down.  From the moment Libby got the phone call from her friend Nicole I was hooked.  The characters were realistic and the mystery element was so exciting.  I love the Outer Banks and this story made me want to vacation there again.  Colleen Coble is a master story-teller and expert at weaving mystery, love, good, and bad into a well written piece of Christian fiction.  This is a must read.

MY THOUGHTS:  This book was one of those I did not want to put down.  I really enjoyed the book from cover to cover. Blue Skies Tomorrow is easy read with characters you feel as if you know.   I cannot wait to read the rest of the trilogy, and wish I had read them in order.  When I was reading this book it was difficult for me, a twenty-first century woman,  to remember that in the time frame the book was written life was different from women than it is now.
