At Least You're In Tuscany

About The Book:  Endless fields of flame-like poppies. Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The sweet, rhythmic chime of church bells.  Months upon months of unemployment? Struggling to communicate with locals? Duvets frozen on the clothesline?  Jennifer Criswell's move from New York City to Tuscany was not supposed to go like this. She had envisioned lazy mornings sipping espresso while penning a best-selling novel and jovial group dinners, just like in the movies and books about expatriate life in Italy.  Then she met reality: no work, constant struggles with Italian bureaucracy to claim citizenship through her ancestors, and perhaps worst of all, becoming the talk of the town after her torrid affair with a local fruit vendor.  At Least You're in Tuscany is the intimate, honest, and often hilarious tale of Jennifer's first year in Montepulciano. During that time, Jennifer's internal optimist was forced to work overtime, reminding her that if she were going to be homeless, lonely, and broke, at least she would be all those things - in Tuscany.  Through all her small-town bumblings, though, Jennifer's mantra, along with a healthy dose of enthusiasm and willingness to learn about Italian culture, helped her not only build a new, rewarding life in Italy but also find herself along the way.

About The Author:  Jennifer Criswell is a lawyer turned writer. After a trip to Italy in 2001 changed her life and her direction, she chucked her legal briefs to pursue her love of writing. Jennifer followed this dream to New York City where she supported herself (just) for over six years by walking dogs on the Upper West Side.  Jennifer has authored three novels, and her current project, AT LEAST YOU’RE IN TUSCANY: A Somewhat Disastrous Quest for the Sweet Life, is an honest and funny memoir about the reality of following your dream.  Jennifer lives and writes in a small hill town in Italy with her sidekick of a Weimaraner, Cinder. They are always on the look out for new adventures… and new gelato flavors!

My Thoughts On The Book: I thoroughly enjoyed the true story of someone who really wants to fit in and seem like a local in another country. Having traveled a good bit I have often wondered what it would be like to just pick up and move to another country.  I think this book is the answer to my ever present question.  In order to live in another country you have to learn the language, adapt to the culture and keep on keeping on.  The book also shows that it does not take a ton of money to do this.  Who knows maybe someday I will venture out into the world and live somewhere I have never lived before.

What the Bride Didn't Know

About The Book:  Shh…it's a secret!   Special ops expert Trig Sinclair is a man's man, and that means he knows the cardinal rule of the bro code—no matter how dynamite Lena West is, as his best friend's younger sister, she's strictly off-limits!  But when a secret mission to Istanbul sees Lena and Trig pretending to be married (and sharing a bed!), he finds himself in a whole new world of sweet torture…. But if Trig thinks playing the honor-bound hero is tough, it's got nothing on how Lena feels when she discovers what her "groom" is really hiding….

About The Author:  Australian born Kelly Hunter writes short contemporary romance for Harlequin Mills &Boon and even shorter contemporary romance for herself. First published in 2007, Kelly's books have finalled once in the Romance Writers of Australia's RUBY award, six times in the Australian Romance Readers Awards, twice in the Romantic Times Readers Choice Awards and have been nominated three times for a RITA. Thus inspired, Kelly keeps writing them.

My Thoughts On The Book:  I love a story where friendship turns into love, and I was expecting that outcome from this book. I liked the main characters, I liked their interaction with each other, I liked the fact that they were all old family friends.  I liked that they were spies (which gave the story an element of suspense) and the shooting and robbery in Turkey made them all vulnerable.  I was a bit disappointed in the amnesia aspect, but loved the ending.  This is a fun read. I read it in one sitting.

MY THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK:  I loved this book.  The story of Charlotte and Sam was heart wrenching, yet tender and sweet.  The story is so very life-like that it is as if Higman knew this characters personally.  God's presence in this tale of misunderstandings, prejudice, and hate made the book so inspiring.  Higman is an amazing wordsmith and I really enjoy reading her work.  This was one of those books that you cannot put down until you have read the last page.  If you want to read a well-written book then this is the book for you.  Thanks Abingdon for allowing me to review this book.

Unexpected Christmas Hero

About The Book: This is an inspiring and compelling story of friendship and survival.  Josie Meyers and her 2 young children think they are living the American dream until their dream turns to a nightmare.  The little family finds themselves homeless and Josie is forced to deal with the fallout of her husband's decisions.   Josie spends every moment worrying about where they will eat, where they will sleep, what if one of them becomes ill, whom can she trust, how will the children be able to attend school, will the weather turn cold or rainy or snow. While the scenes surrounding Josie are dominated by Christmas decorations and carols unfold, Josie finds herself being forced to lean on the kindness and generosity of others.  What she does not know is that the influence of one homeless man in particular is about to change the course of her life and lead her home to the One who waits for her.  He becomes her unexpected Christmas hero.

 Website: kathimacias.com

Though I'm a wife, mother, grandmother, and yes, great grandmother, I also ride on the back of my hubby's Harley and am known as "Easy Writer." (Update: Hubby sold Harley and bought a 2005 sunburst orange Corvette, so I'm still "Easy Writer" but in comfort now!)
My Thoughts On The Book:  I have to say that I was deeply affected by  Kathi Macias' novel. I’ve never experienced homelessness personally but have contributed time and gifts to "Bridge Ministry" (homeless people who live under the interstate are given warm soup, blankets, and coats), I have served meals at a mission, church, my school.  There is something very rewarding in giving of yourself to someone in need.  I loved the characters of the book, with Josie being one of my favorites.  She is busy living the good life when out of the blue her world shifts off its axis. First she loses her mother, then her husband becomes ill and she loses him as well. The breaking point comes when her home is foreclosed upon. She and her two young children are forced to learn to navigate the welfare system in order to survive. With very limited funds there are times when she and her children are forced to sleep in an alley behind a dry cleaner’s shop. I had to ask myself as a mother, how would I ever sleep?  Having done some work in a homeless shelter I am not sure it is much better....it is just inside, but desperation leads people to do many things they would not normally do.  It broke my heart as this young mother tried her best to feed and provide lodging for her little ones.  Just when I felt my heart was broken for this little family, a ray of sunshine peaked through and God began to weave people into their lives that would change them and ultimately draw them closer to Him. The most profound pairing was that of Rick and this family. Rick,  a homeless Vietnam veteran suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Rick chooses the streets over a veteran’s home where he would most likely spend his days heavily medicated.  Rick embodied the Christ-like character of laying down his life so that others may obtain life.  The story made me view the homeless and their situation differently. I think everyone should read this story and let it speak to you.  It has a very powerful story to tell!

Daughters of Fire

About the Book:  Daughters of Fire is a gripping adventure of romance, intrigue, myth and murder set amid the cultural tensions of contemporary Hawaii. A visiting astronomer falls in love with a Hawaiian anthropologist who guides him into a Polynesian world of volcanoes, gods and revered ancestors. The lovers get caught up in murder and intrigue as developers and politicians try to conceal that a long-dormant volcano is rumbling back to life above the hotel-laden Kona coast. The anthropologist joins forces with an aging seer and a young activist, and these three Hawaiian women summon their deepest traditions to confront the latest, most extravagant resort as the eruption and the murder expose deep rifts in paradise. More than a decade in its research and writing, Tom Peek's mystical and provocative debut novel picks up Hawaii's story where James Michener left off. Daughters of Fire illuminates how the islands' transformation into a tourist mecca and developers gold mine sparked a Native Hawaiian movement to reclaim their culture, protect sacred land, and step into the future with wisdom and aloha.
About the Author:  Tom Peek lived his early life on the Upper Mississippi on a backwaters island of Minnesota.  After hitchhiking by boat through the South Seas, he settled on the island of Hawaii, where he’s lived for two decades.  There, he has been a mountain and astronomy guide on Mauna Kea and an eruption ranger, firefighter, and exhibit writer on Kilauea, working closely with Hawaiian elders and cultural practitioners on both volcanoes.  He lives with his wife, Catherine Robbins, in a rainforest cottage near Kilauea’s erupting summit.
About the Illustrator:  John D. Dawson was raised in San Diego and now lives on the Big Island of Hawaii.  From the age of three, he know that art was his calling.  He graduated from the Art Center School, Los Angeles, now the Art Center College of Art and Design.   Over the last twelve years he has illustrated US Postal Service stamps for its Nature in America series.  He’s also done commissions for the National Park Service, United Nations, National Wildlife Federation, National Geographic Society, and Audubon Society.
About the Cover Artist:  Herb Kawainui Kane, celebrated Hawaiian artist, historian, and author, cofounded the Polynesian Voyaging Society and designed the Hokulea voyaging canoe, contributing profoundly to the Hawaiian Renaissance movement.  A graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago, Kane depicted Hawaiian historical scenes realistically, but when painting spiritual or mythological aspects of the culture-as in Pele, Goddess of Volanoes, the cover image of this book-his art was expressionistic, with bold brushwork and vivid colors.
My Thoughts About the Book:  I enjoy a good storyteller and the act of storytelling.  I come from a long line of storytellers.  Native stories are some of my favorites.  And after visiting the islands discovered that  Hawaiian storytelling differs only in character and location only.  There is a vast wealth of local oral traditions that still exist in the islands. Everywhere I went while exploring the magic of the islands there was always a story to be found.  Most of the stories I heard and read while there seemed to  incorporate themes of gods, legends, lovers, dance, arts, poetry and the connection to Earth, Sea, Sky, Spirits, and Aumakua (spirit guides in animal-kinolau-form).Tom Peek is a master of the art of storytelling in "Daughters of Fire."   Tom Peek leads the reader in a page turning journey through Hawaii-nei in the protagonist's attempts to restore balance in her newly imbalanced world. ... events and subjects reflect both a ripe imagination and 2 degrees off kilter from reality in part of Hawaii nei - (today). What could happen if the West Side of the Big Island was covered in Lava all in the course of one evening?   I found myself wondering could this really happen? The book draws the reader in, engrossing us with the adventures of the characters.  No matter if you are familiar with Hawaii as a visitor, as a native, or only through chance acquaintance from the media, you  will enjoy this wonderful story and take away a different experience.  This book was well- crafted and would make a lovely gift for a special friend or loved one.

Love's Journey Home

About The Book:  Did you ever get a second chance?  It’s been seven years since her husband died, but Helen Crouch is doing just fine. She’s selling her jams and canned goods at the bakery and making a tidy living. But her whole world goes topsy-turvy when a new family moves to town and her son, Edmond, shows out at a parade endangering Gabriel Glesses daughter.   Gabriel Gless has brought his children to Bliss Creek to escape the worldly influences in Indiana. Helen and Gabriel have so much in common—the loss of their beloved spouses, the experience of raising their families alone, their rock-solid faith—so why can’t they seem to speak without arguing?  Meanwhile, Helen’s good friend Annie Plank is still reeling from the death of her husband when Gabriel’s son Isaac walks into her bakery and into her heart. But how can she trust God with her future when she knows how easily dreams can be ripped apart?  And that’s not all that’s going on in Bliss Creek this summer. In the middle of a punishing drought, the community is faced with the decision to uproot their families and establish a new settlement. As families struggle to say goodbye, each one must find the faith to follow the Lord’s direction.  Join the families of Bliss Creek in the dramatic conclusion to their story, and discover with them the joy of finding home.
About The Author:  Kelly Irvin is the author of the Bliss Creek Amish series, which includes To Love and To Cherish, A Heart Made New, which is slated to release in October 2012, and Love’s Journey Home, which will debut in January 2013. She studied for three semesters at the University of Costa Rica, learning the Spanish language. As a journalist, she worked six years in the border towns of Laredo and El Paso, where she was exposed to culture and language that serves as fodder for her fiction writing. She has written hard news, features, entertainment pieces, restaurant critiques, editorials, and weekly columns. Writing awards include the Silver Star Award from the Texas Mental Health Association for articles pertaining to mental health and numerous awards in news, feature, and editorial writing from the Texas Press Association and Texas Press Women. For nearly eighteen years, she has worked in public relations for the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department, where her duties include writing and designing an employee newsletter, writing news releases, collaborating on marketing campaigns, coordinating ribbon-cuttings and groundbreakings, coordinating press conferences, updating the web site, and acting as a media spokesperson. She also proofreads trial transcripts for court reporters. Kelly has been married to photographer Tim Irvin for twenty-four years, and they have two young adult children. In her spare time, she likes to write short stories and read books by her favorite authors.
My Thoughts On The Book:  Even though this was the first of the trilogy that I have read it was easy to pick up on the characters and understand the stories that were interwoven in the book.  This was a wonderful book and Irvin definitely has a gift with words.  Once I began reading the book I was hooked and actually did not sleep one night so I could finish the story.  I loved all the characters and felt as if I knew each one personally.  My heart grieved for Annie, Helen, Gabriel and Issac as they struggled to overcome all the obstacles in their paths and find true love.  This is a must read and I cannot wait to get my hands on the first two in the series so I can read them.

My Thoughts On The Book:  I adored this book.  I loved Kit and felt a strong bond with her from the beginning.  This book, although a third in a series, is a stand alone.  I had no trouble connecting each character.  Donna Kauffman is a master wordsmith.  The down-home charm of this book make it a fun read.

Wyoming Bride

About The Book:  This is the sensational second novel in Joan Johnston’s new Western historical romance series set in the world of Bitter Creek.  The recurring question in the story is can secrets and second chances ever lead to love?  After three months in a mail-order marriage, Hannah Wentworth McMurtry is a widow—pregnant, alone, and near death in the Wyoming wilderness. Though she is saved by a man with a face cut from stone, she still grieves the husband who died on their journey west. Now he must find a ranch wife of his own. But every female in the remote Wyoming Territory is too old, too young, or already married . . . until he discovers Hannah on the prairie. Flint doesn’t pretend to love her, but he doesn’t tell her he loves another woman, either. Hannah doesn’t pretend to love him, but she doesn’t tell him about the child she carries. Though danger surrounds them on the Wyoming frontier, the greatest threats of all are the secrets within—revelations that could destroy the new life Hannah and Flint have begun to cherish.

About The Author:  One of the most popular romance writers in America today, former attorney and college professor Joan Johnston has over 10 million books in print world-wide – including the New York Times bestsellers SISTERS FOUND, THE COWBOY, THE TEXAN, THE LONER, THE NEXT MRS. BLACKTHORNE and NO LONGER A STRANGER.. The Price represented a milestone in Johnston’s career as her first hardcover original.  Joan Johnston has an eclectic background. Now the bestselling, award-winning author of forty-five novels, she was formerly an attorney with Hunton & Williams in Richmond, Virginia and Squire, Sanders & Dempsey in Miami, Florida. Joan also worked as a newspaper editor and drama critic in San Antonio, Texas, as a director of theatre in Southwest Texas, and as a college professor, most recently at the University of Miami, Florida. Joan has a B.A. in theatre arts from Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida, an M.A. in theatre from the University of Illinois in Urbana and received her J.D. with honors from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law.  Joan loves to travel and visited England and Scotland to do research for her Captive Hearts series (Captive, After the Kiss, The Bodyguard and The Bridegroom). She also made journeys to Tahiti, Australia and Bali–for a South Seas, WWII novel that she hopes to write. Joan’s books have appeared on the New York Times, USA TODAY and Publisher’s Weekly Bestseller Lists.  For her Bitter Creek series, Joan toured the legendary King Ranch in South Texas and took a course on tracking (humans and animals!) from a Deputy Marshal deep in the Big Bend country of West Texas. She also traveled to Australia to tour the big cattle stations there and see what life is like Down Under.  Joan is a member of the Authors Guild, Novelists, Inc., Romance Writers of America and Florida Romance Writers. She divides her time between homes in Colorado and South Florida.  Johnston recently became a grandmother for the second time. Her daughter, a teacher, lives in the Tampa area. Her son, a budding novelist, lives in Orlando.

My Thoughts On The Book:  I fell in love with gutsy Hannah from the beginning of the book.  Her devotion to family and will to protect them was intriguing.  I usually hate coming into a series after it has started but I had no trouble getting up to speed on who the characters were, their relationships,  and what was going on.  Johnstons characters are very believable and lifelike. This was a great read and I did not want to put it down once the story began and whirled me up inside it.  I would recommend this book to anyone who loves western romance settings.

Love Comes To Paradise

About The Book:  Love Comes to Paradise is the second book in bestselling author Mary Ellis’s New Beginnings series. It’s about fresh starts…and how faith in God and His perfect plans provide the peace and joy all long for.Nora King believes she is a woman in love. When Elam Detweiler leaves the ultraconservative Amish district of Harmony, Maine, and moves to Paradise, Missouri, Nora follows soon after. But does she love the man or the independence and freethinking he represents? Although she finds good work in her new town, Nora can’t seem to capture Elam’s Englisch-leaning heart, no matter how hard she tries. And then, unexpectedly, Lewis Miller comes from Harmony to offer Nora what every woman needs—a lifetime of unconditional love. As Lewis attempts to claim her heart, Elam’s interest piques. Will Nora come to her senses before Elam’s thoughtless choices ruin her reputation beyond repair?

About The Author: Mary Ellis grew up close to the eastern Ohio Amish Community, Geauga County, where her parents often took her to farmers’ markets and woodworking fairs. She and her husband now live in Medina County, close to the largest population of Amish in the country. They often take weekend trips to purchase produce, meet Amish families, and enjoy a simple way of life.
Favorite Verse: Colossians 3:13 (NLT) : Make allowance for each other's faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
My Thoughts On The Book:  This book was a different portrayal of Amish life for me.  I have read many books yet never seen it told quite this way.  When I met the character of Elam Detweiler after he left the ultraconservative district of Harmony, Maine, and moved to Paradise, Missouri I knew I would not and did not like him. Nora King, a sad little waif followed him soon after and I could not understand the draw at first.  she can  herself to Elam in comes Lewis Miller, wishing to court Nora.  Which way will she lean?.  As the story unfolds it all makes perfect sense.  This is a great book.

Courting Cate

About The Book:  When Amish farmer Pete Treger moves to Paradise Township, Pennsylvania, seeking a better life, he meets sisters Cate and Betsy Miller. Both are beautiful, but older sister Cate is known more for her sharp tongue and fiery temper than her striking appearance. Betsy, on the other hand, is sweet and flirty--and seems to have attracted most of the bachelors in Lancaster County!
However, the sisters' wealthy father has made one hard and fast rule: elder sister must marry first, before the younger can even start courting. Unfortunately for poor Betsy, and for the men who want to court her, her older sister, Cate, doesn't have any suitors--until Pete comes to town, that is. Though he finds both sisters attractive, something about Cate's feisty demeanor appeals to him. Soon the other bachelors in the district convince Pete to court Cate. She hardly seems receptive to his overtures, though. Instead, she's immediately suspicious of his interest.

About The Author: According to Leslie, "Some of my strongest memories from childhood include stories—and how those stories connected me to my family and friends. As a preschooler, I remember playing Island of the Blue Dolphin with my three siblings and the neighbor kids, my father reading A Street of Flower Boxes to us before bed, and my mother reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn on long car trips. I also soaked up Bible stories and accounts of grace and redemption during Sunday school and Good News Club. Along with my love of stories, my love of writing began in those early years with my very first written word—S-K-Y. Even though I knew I wanted to write fiction by the time I was in the sixth grade, as I grew older I pursued other things instead, such as majoring in history and communications, and then working as a museum curator, then a public relations specialist, and finally as a magazine editor. Once I finally started writing fiction, it was another ten years until I sold my first novel. By that time I’d been married for nearly 20 years and had four children of my own to read to.  In the decade since my first contract I’ve written fifteen books, from Beyond the Blue, a story about international adoption set in Vietnam, to Courting Cate, a retelling of Shakespeare’s “Taming of the Shrew” set in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. No matter what I write, I aim to reveal truths about God’s love, beauty, and redemptive work in our lives. My goal is to connect more deeply to God, family, and friends through my writing. My hope is that my stories encourage readers to deepen their own connections too."

My Thoughts On The Book:  This book was amazing.  The story of Cate and Pete just warmed my heart.  I felt as if I knew every character personally.  Gould is definitely a wonderful wordsmith.  Her characters came to life off the pages.  From beginning to end it was the kind of book you did not want to part with.  Courting Cate will be released on November 1st.  You need to head over to Amazon and reserve your copy now.

What I Didn't Say

About the Book:  Getting drunk homecoming night your senior year is never a good idea, but Jake Hayes never expected it all to end with a car crash and a t-post embedded in his throat. His biggest regret about it all? What he never said to Samantha Shay. He's been in love with her for years and never had the guts to tell her. Now it's too late. Because after that night, Jake will never be able to talk again. When Jake returns to his small island home, population 5,000, he'll have to learn how to deal with being mute. He also finds that his family isn't limited to his six brothers and sisters, that sometimes an entire island is watching out for you. And when he gets the chance to spend more time with Samantha, she'll help him learn that not being able to talk isn't the worst thing that could ever happen to you. Maybe, if she'll let him, Jake will finally tell her what he didn't say before, even if he can't actually say it.

About the Author:  Keary Taylor grew up along the foothills of the Rocky Mountains where she started creating imaginary worlds and daring characters who always fell in love. She now resides on a tiny island in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and their two young children. She continues to have an overactive imagination that frequently keeps her up at night.  She is the bestselling, Wall Street Journal featured author of BRANDED, FORSAKEN, VINDICATED, AFTERLIFE (Fall of Angels series), EDEN, and WHAT I DIDN'T SAY.

My Thoughts On The Book:  I found the book a bit slow at first.  It seemed like it was a typical American teenage book about partying, drinking, and sports.  It was not until the accident that I found myself hooked.  I could not put this book down and felt as if Jake and Samantha were students I had had in my own classes.  Taylor did an excellent job making her characters life-like and I loved the book.  I hated to see it end.  I would highly recommend this book to anyone.  It definitely sends a powerful message to young people on the results of drinking and driving or riding.

The Summer of the Dancing Bear

About the Book: Bianca Lakoseljac’s debut novel, The Summer of the Dancing Bear, is a mesmerizing combination of love story and mystery all rolled into one .  The young protagonist, Kata, explores a most unfamiliar world of the gypsy tribe that has befriended her and embarks on a quest to discover the fate of a neighbour’s missing child. Memory and magic play dominant roles  in the story until the shocking denouement that reveals Kata’s own family secrets and forever alters her perceptions of life as she once knew it. Engaging and original, the novel fuses history, myth, and tradition in a whimsical literary voice that reminds us that the complex and innocent humanity in us is too often haunted by human tragedy.
About the Author:  . Bianca Lakoseljac is the author of a collection of stories, Bridge in the Rain (Guernica, 2010), and a collection of poetry, Memoirs of a Praying Mantis, 2009. She is the recipient of the Matthew Ahern Memorial Award in literature. Her writing has appeared in journals and anthologies such as Canadian Woman Studies, Canadian Voices, and Migrating Memories: Central Europe in Canada. Summer of the Dancing Bear, which chronicles the rite of passage of a 14-year-old girl befriended by a gypsy clan, set in the former Yugoslavia, is her first novel. Bianca divides her time between Toronto and Woodland Beach on Georgian Bay.

My Thoughts On The Book: I grew up with gypsy tales as a child.  My family had many gypsy stories that would tell us as children and because of that I was excited about reading this book.  It was not a disappointment.  This book was everything I dreamed it would be and more.  Lakoseljac portrayal of  Kata's consciousness is culmination of a confused and dream-infused vision. Thoughts and images come to her suddenly - sometimes she has been dreaming, and sometimes she finds herself in a remote spot near a marsh or woodland with no idea how she got there. Sometimes it affects her health, and her loved ones and neighbors become alarmed for her. The author always fills us in on the events that lead to the spell, and poor Kata must work through the significance of her visions. Readers will find themselves wishing they could help, because Kata is a very sympathetic character.  Regardless of Kata's sudden and unpredictable visions, this book has a tight plot and is extremely rewarding. It honors the oppressed and wandering Romany gypsy tribes, portraying their lust for life as well as their humanity and enlightened traditions. Kata learns the part she will play in their tradition, and the reader is treated to a captivating story.  I would highly recommend this book.

Hunk for the Holidays = A Must Read

About The Book:  Always putting business before pleasure, Cassie McPherson works hard for her family's construction business. That might explain why she doesn't have a date for the company Christmas party. But it doesn't quite explain why she's crazy enough to hire an escort for the event or - crazier still - why she's dying to unwrap him like a present . . .
With whiskey-colored eyes and a killer smile, James is one gorgeous hunk who really knows how to fill out a tuxedo. He charms everyone, including Cassie. And when the night ends, the party doesn't stop. As Cassie falls, literally, into his bed, James falls head over heels in love. Now he has to figure out a way to tell her the truth: he's not an escort. He's her family's fiercest business rival. But all he wants for Christmas is her . . .

About The Author:
"So here’s the thing. she loves to write about fictional people, but she feel very uncomfortable writing about herself. So let’s dispense with the biography and she’ll tell you a story. And everyone knows that all the best stories start with . . .
Once upon a time there was a little girl who walked around with her head in the clouds. While the other kids paid attention to the world around them, this little girl (For clarity’s sake, let’s just call her Katie.) spent her days dreaming....want to know more then visit her website by clicking here.

My Thoughts On The Book:  This book is sassy, sexy, fun and a must read. Cassie is such a go-getter and her counterpart in the story, James is equally as head strong as she is.   It is one of the those books that once you pick it up you don't want to put it down, even if it means doing without sleep.    I loved both  of the main characters, Cassie and James.  This story is the whole fairy tale package with a few bumps along the road to true love thrown in for flavor.  Katie Lane is a expert story weaver.

The Bridge

About the Book:  Molly Allen lives alone in Portland, but she left her heart back in Tennessee with a man she walked away from five years ago.  Ryan Kelly lives in Nashville and after several years on the road touring with a country music duo he can still hear the voice of the girl he can't get out of his head.  At least he can visit The Bridge - the oldest bookstore in historic downtown Franklin-and remember the hours he and Molly once spent there.  For thirty years, Charlie and Donna Barton have run The Bridge, even through dismal book sales and the rise of digital books.  Then in May, the hundred-year flood swept through Franklin and destroyed nearly every book in the store.  Now the bank is pulling the lease.  Despondent and without answers, Charlie drives through a blinding snowstorm and considers ending his life.  But before he can decide, he hits black ice and crashes.  Life changes and miracles and second chances begin to unfold.

About the Author:  USA Today and New York Times bestselling author Karen Kingsbury is America’s #1 inspirational novelist. There are more than 20 million copies of her award-winning books in print, including several million copies sold in the past year. Karen has written more than 50 novels, ten of which have hit #1 on national lists.  Karen Kingsbury is best known for her Life-Changing Fiction™ and for creating unforgettable characters. When speaking before women's groups - some with more than 10,000 in attendance - Karen makes audiences laugh and cry with her compelling story-telling. She likes to tell attendees they have, "One chance to write the story of their lives," and her talk focuses on reminding women to live every day loving well, laughing often, and finding true life in Jesus Christ. Karen routinely speaks before more than 100,000 women each year.

My Thoughts on the Book:  Having been an avid Karen Kingsbury fan for years I was delighted when Simon & Schuster allowed me the opportunity to preview this book.  It was Karen Kingsbury at her finest.  The story is a touching tale of a young couple from differing backgrounds, an older couple who run a long standing bookstore, mother natures fury, tragedy, miracles, and second chances.  It is the kind of book you do not want to put down.  The characters are so real that you feel as if they are a part of you, which is the Karen Kingsbury style of writing.  I would recommend this book to anyone who loves to see what can happen when God is in control.
