J is for Jupiter
Todays Adventure letter is J and my special place is Jupiter. I am not talking about the planet, I am talking about the Island in Florida that houses the wonderous Jupiter Lighthouse. From the time I was a little girl, around age 3, my family explored Florida. One of my favorite places to go was to Jupiter Inlet so I could see that majestic lighthouse that stood there.
I think it was about that time that my dream in life was to be a lighthouse keeper. Even today, some fifty years later, I still have a burning desire to be a lighthouse keeper. When I went to Michigan in 2010 the keeper of the Mission Lighthouse outside of Traverse City told me they have volunteers who come up and work a week to a month each year. I was delighted.
Another of my bucket list items may come true. In researching I have found that there are several lighthouses who do this. How exciting is this. My dream lighthouse of course would be Jupiter....since it was my first lighthouse love....but they don't have volunteers. Kat and I found several on our trip up the coast to P.E.I. when she was fifteen. One of our favorites was found in a quaint little fishing town and it was called Nubble. The day was gorgeous and we enjoyed taking pictures of the lighthouse.
Over the years I have been to several lighthouses as part of trip. I have seen almost all of the ones in Florida and along the coasts in the south. There are still so many left to see.....so for my J adventure it definitely has to be Jupiter. Happy Wednesday.
