Wednesday Hodge Podge - Volume 88

It is Wednesday and that means Hodge Podge here in Karen's Korner.  Joyce has come up with some interesting questions and I have done my best to answer them.  If you would like to join in then copy and paste the questions from Joyce's blog and answer them on your own blog, but be sure to visit Joyce's blog here on Wednesday so you can link to the party. I agree with Joyce...The more the merrier...

1. In an effort to combat obesity, the mayor of NYC has plans to ban the sale of large sugary drinks (anything over 16 oz.), initially in restaurants, movie theatres, and street carts. Corner stores would also be affected if they are defined as food service establishments. You can read more here . Your thoughts?  I am overweight and really wish all the super sized, large sized sugar loaded foods were not available anymore.  I know I am an adult and should know what to eat, or not to eat, but using food as a source of comfort has been a problem I have battled most of my life. I live in the South and let me tell you....when there is a death or illness in a family people bring food....fried, sugary, abundant food.  I don't like the government putting these restrictions on food.    If they can do this with food....what will they do next?
2. Art festival, music festival, food festival...which would you most like to attend?  I actually love all three of these venues.  But since I have to chose just one.....and you all know I sing....I would be all  over the music festival venue.
3. What are you irrational about?  People endangering my life when they text on the phone.  Let me pull my soap box up and go crazy on that one.
4. Do you feel confident you'll have a comfortable retirement? I am planning to retire from teaching in the next couple of years and have worked hard to put back for retirement.  I plan to work at something else once I quit teaching until I reach 66.5 years of age...or more.  My mom did not quit working until she was 79.  I plan to live as I live now if all my hard work pays off and the government
figures out what they are doing wrong.  I am so sorry....but why should I live on less than I made when I worked, pay COLAS, and hope for a Medicare that may, or may not be there while they make ridiculous amounts of money in retirement and get benefits they do not pay in to.  I am 58 years old and will probably not recieve Medicare.....even though I have paid for it all my working life.  Sonething is wrong with this system.....ok....I am stepping off the soap box again.
5. What's been your favorite Olympic moment so far? (Not ever, just in the 2012 Summer games)  When Gabby Douglas won the All Round gold in gymnastics.
6. What would you label as the messiest room in your house? My office.  I have pictures I am sorting through of mine and my parents.  I have paperwork from them and us....and it is just a general mess, although it is not something I can't fix....I just have not had the urge to fix it yet.
7. Do you follow your heart or your head?  I wish I could say my head but I am afraid my heart leads and my head follows.
8. Insert your own random thought here. Tuesday was National Lighthouse Day.  When I was a youngster I dreamed of being the lighthouse keeper at Jupiter Lighthouse.  Someday I am still planning to volunteer at a lighthouse.....if it is nothing but the gift shop.  I love lighthouses. Many of the trips I take revolve around lighthouses.  Is there something odd you wanted to do when you were a child?  Care to share it with me?????
Have a great rest of the week and I will see you again next week right here at Wednesday Hodge Podge.
