1. How often do you check the weather? How do you check the weather?
4. Fresh from the oven peach pie or homemade peach ice cream. Pick one.
5. Should people accept unfairness and learn to make the best of it?
6. The top five all time summer blockbuster movies (released between May and August and grossing at least 100 million dollars) are Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Wars (the original), Ghostbusters, and E.T. Which one's your favorite?

I use the Weather Channel app on my phone, Ipad, and computer. I watch the weather channel on television. i check the weather a good bit now that I have such direct contact with it. I have especially been checking it for heat advisorys and such this summer.
2. Since this is Volume 84 of the Wednesday Hodgepodge, and since Joyce got married in 1984, and since she is attending a wedding this weekend, it only seems right to post something related here.
"Happiness in marriage is entirely a matter of chance. If the dispositions of the parties are ever so well known to each other or ever so similar beforehand, it does not advance their felicity in the least. They always continue to grow sufficiently unlike afterwards to have their share of vexation; and it is better to know as little as possible of the defects of the person with whom you are to pass your life." Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice
Agree or Disagree? Why?
Happiness is never entirely a matter of chance, in marriage or anywhere else. An individual always has the right to choose to be happy or not happy. The second part of this quote implies that knowing a person well or hardly at all makes no difference. I have been married twice. The first marriage lasted just shy of 25 years and we dated for three years. I had known him for longer than that because his sister was married to my uncle. People change as they age. We did....we were parents from the beginning(he had been married before and had custody of his two young children). The man I married when I was barely 20....was not the man I left in my 40's. My current husband and I met and carried on a long distance get to know you til he moved to where I lived. We married after dating for a couple of years and have been married for almost 10 years. The 50 year old me is different.....we have no children living at home....I am nearing retirement....life is just diffrerent. It is a God thing in my view.....He is in control. I truly believe that that's why we take vows... for better or worse, in sickness and in health, for richer, for poorer, and you get the point. .
3. Do you like to dance? Have you ever taken dance lessons?
I love to sing.....but as far as dancing goes I have no rhythm. My legs, arms, and hips don't move fluidly when I dance. Frank is a fabulous dancer and is so good that he makes me better than I actually am. I took ballet and tap classes at the YWCA as a young girl and I attempted some Zumba although I'm not sure you could call that dancing. I think when I do it that it looks more like I am having a grand mal seizure. Frank and I took a ballroom dancing cla from my dancing buddy Mae Lynn who dances amazingly. All the women in the class wanted to dance with my husband and left me to dance with theirs. Frank makes you feel as if you are walking on air when he leads you out on the floor.
4. Fresh from the oven peach pie or homemade peach ice cream. Pick one.
I love peach pie....but would much rather have homemade peach ice cream. There is a place in Clanton, AL called Peach Park and their ice cream is amazing.
5. Should people accept unfairness and learn to make the best of it?
My mantra here....when life hands you lemons...make lemonade. Sometimes you have to add a bit of extra sugar to sweeten up the drink.
6. The top five all time summer blockbuster movies (released between May and August and grossing at least 100 million dollars) are Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Wars (the original), Ghostbusters, and E.T. Which one's your favorite?
Ghostbusters which, in my opinion, was just okay. Great song though! Star Wars may look a little dated viewed thru the jaded lens of 2012 but when it first came out people couldn't stop talking about the amazing special effects. Jaws talked me into never going into the ocean again. I loved E.T. It would have to be my favorite on the list. It had a good message. I cried at the end when E.T. returned home.
7. If given the chance, would you like to visit the moon?
I have no desire to visit the moon. I love to see it from a planetarium and to photograph it when it is staring at me from way on high. I think seeing it as it is would ruin my dreamlike thoughts of it....and the man who lives there.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
July 9th woulde have been my mom's 83rd birthday. She died in 2011 and I struggled with the day as a whole. I tried to keep busy and not think about it....but it did not work. I had her on my mind all day. Those first events after the loss of a loved one are tough.....and so are the second, third, fourth....losing a loved one is hard. I actually started blogging when my parents came to live with me. It was a way of release. So keeping with the theme of Joyce's random thought.....what made you start blogging? Have a wonderful day.....and God Bless You All Real Good!
