Show Me How To Illustrate Evangelistic Sermons

About the Book:  In a definitive volume on how to illustrate sermons, author and speaker R. Larry Moyer shows pastors and speakers how to clearly present the good news with effective and memorable stories and quotations.  With hundreds of pages of examples, this is the how-to book for illustrating not only evangelistic messages but all sermons.  Included are nine helpful chapters, as shown below, and an index of topics:  Why Illustrate?  Why Humor?  How Do Illustrations Help Communicate?  Where Do You find Illustrations?  What Topics Do You Illustrate?  Let’s Talk About Illustrating Sin.  Let’s Talk About Illustrating Saving Faith.  Let’s Talk About Illustrating Substitution.
About the Author:  Author and speaker R. Larry Moyer received his ThM from Dallas Theological Seminary and his DMin from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.  He has  been working in the field of evangelism out-reach and training for nearly forty years.  He is the founder and CEO of EvanTell, Inc., an evangelism training ministry in Dallas, Texas, and speaks at evangelistic outreaches, training seminars, and in churches and classrooms across the country.

My Thoughts On The Book:  This book is a companion piece for Show Me How To Preach Evangelistic Sermons.  I previewed that book yesterday because I felt both books needed their moment in the sons  This second book is a helpmate for preachers to connect the message for non-believers.  I was very impressed with the way Moyer begins the book by outlining the usefulness of illustrations and shows the reader where to find illustrations and how to use humor in the message. Moyer’s way is that a well- illustrated evangelistic sermon should have at least fifteen illustrations in a 30 minute sermon.  He uses three main headings in his book:  Sin, Substitution, and Saving Faith.   Moyer believes that these three are essential elements for Evangelistic messages.  I loved the illustrations he gave.  As a  lay speaker I find locating illustrations difficult so I am glad that Moyer provided so many.  I would use both books at the same time when preparing a sermon or  speaking at a speaking engagement.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Kregel Publications. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
